How To Get A Stress-Free Holiday
Entertaining guests, cooking, wrapping gifts, decorating… The things we enjoy can easily turn out overwhelming if we don’t plan ahead. So what can we do to stress less during the holidays? Here’s our best tips.
Prioritize human connection over digital. Real life can’t, and shouldn’t be, picture perfect.
This goes for family too. By saying no you prioritize your own feelings and time, and save it for the things you really want to do.
- Don’t say maybe when you really mean no.
- Keep your explanation brief, don’t feel pressured to over-explain.
- Offer an alternative if there’s one available.
Plan ahead for some get away-time if you think you’ll need it. Take a break to walk the dog, post holiday cards or grab a cold brew and look at the neighborhood Christmas lights or the winter landscape.
We’ve said it before, and we say it again. Sleep is one of the most powerful tools to reduce stress. If you know your holidays tend to get jammed with activities, try to catch some extra ZzzZ’s.
If you’re spending the holidays alone, make it a self care weekend.
Plan some nice things for yourself, like cooking a nice meal, try our gingerbread iced latte and maybe consider volunteering, giving and helping others makes us feel good!
